  • PG/PC-interface Simatic-Manager/TIA: no dialog for COM-port
    Siemens has taken out the serial-communication via COM-port from the driver properties since Windows7 with 64-bit operating systems. This interface is no longer supported.
    Remedy:
    Use TIC-driver and communicate with the S7-PLC with USB- or LAN-interface products.
  • USB-RS232-converter and STEP5 from Siemens => Error 0x0334
    Step5 of Siemens is still a software-tool based on CPM and MS-DOS. Even if it seems to run under Windows like a Windows tool. This requires more and more the problem with new PCs, which do not have a real COM-port (RS232-connector), that no communication is possible with USB-RS232-converters. These COM-ports are virtually and no longer as usual responsible with address and interrupt.
    Remedy:
    Install S5-Patch, this tool allows the STEP5-software to communicate with the virtual COM-port "PLCVCOM" or PG-USB-cable (USB-TTY-converter). An ONLINE is then possible despite the virtual COM-port.
