2G network shutdown announced for 2028
Mobile network operators Telekom and Vodafone have announced the shutdown of their 2G networks for 2028. If you are currently still using 2G devices, start switching to 4G/5G now.

Planned shutdown dates:
Deutsche Telekom: shutdown expected on 30. Juni 2028
Vodafone: shutdown expected at the end of September 2028
                 Exception: 2G remains available for particularly critical IoT applications
                                    expected by 2030
O2/Telefónica: no shutdown date has been announced yet.
1&1: does not operate its own 2G network; however, Vodafone's 2G network can be used via national roaming, therefore, the Vodafone shutdown date applies.
